Un retrato suyo pintado por Basil Hallward se convertirá en un recordatorio palpable de sus graves faltas con el paso del tiempo. A diferencia del resto de los mortales, el apuesto Dorian permanece impasible al sucederse los años, mientras que es el retrato el que envejece y asume su degradación física y moral.
