“Woodstock, 40 years on” es uno de los imperdibles para los fanáticos: un boxset de seis discos que incluye 38 canciones que nunca antes habían sido editadas. El sello Rhino, especialista en compilaciones, es el que lanzó esta caja el día exacto en que se cumplen los 40 años del fin del concierto: el 18 de agosto. “Esta va a ser la más exhaustiva colección de Woodstock hasta ahora”. Los CD están en tiendas a desde del 1 de julio son los álbumes dobles que reviven las presentaciones de Carlos Santana, Sly & The Family Stone, Johnny Winter, Jefferson Airplane y Janis Joplin, y que también se editarán en formato boxset bajo el nombre “The Woodstock experience“. En EE.UU., y a través de internet, ya está disponible la reedición de la banda sonora del documental de 1970, “Woodstock”.

Conmemorando los 40 años de Woodstock, Genesis Publications ha creado una caja con contenido especial. Solo se editarán 1000 piezas y todas ellas estarán firmadas por el organizador Michael Lang así como por el cantautor Arlo Guthrie. La portada esta hecha por el artista Shepard Fairey y cuenta con la participación de otros 65 artistas a lo largo de las 176 páginas del primer volúmen con historias ilustradas con correspondencia original entre artistas y organización, memos, mapas del archivo personal de Lang así como imágenes de tras bambalinas que fueron capturadas por Henry Diltz, el fotógrado oficial del festival. El segundo volúmen muestra las fotografías inéditas de Dan Garson. En la caja viene un boleto auténtico del festival de 1969, un vinil de 7″, una impresión de Peter Max y algunos ensayos comisionados especialmente para esta edición especial. La caja se imprimió y realizó a mano en Milán, Italia.
